The sheer pride and greed of humankind exploit Nature and then try to tame her wildness. Brojeswer Mondal’s art practice is a critique of this very urban tendency of restricting the green patches only in small pots and calling it ‘love for Nature’ . His recent painting, titled ‘Urban Vegetation I’ portrays an urban space that, not unlike the desert, creates its oasis in the balcony and terrace. The mixed media work has pieces of textile pasted on it. The smart use of clothes and textures in Brojeswer’s work is quite remarkable.

The Kolkata-based artist completed a Bachelor’s in painting from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He has participated in many group exhibitions and students’ annual exhibitions in the college. His works were part of Charukala Art Fair 2014, Chitra Santhe Art Fair 2018, 2019, Kalaa Spandan Art Fair, 2018 and 1st Bangladesh Watercolour Biennale, 2018.
